Hi there! After a year-long break from painting, I want to get back in the habit of painting and drawing every day. I've decided to commit to doing a painting a day, with the caveat that if I need a break, I can take a break. (But that'll hopefully be rare.) Some paintings may take more than a day, but they'll still count even if it takes a couple days, right? The point is to commit to daily painting and get into a groove – something I've been lacking for the last year or so. It feels so good to be back!
I've been painting in oils for a long time, and discovered encaustic paints almost 10 years ago. Encaustics have a wonderful feel, and I love the structural and textural paintings I can do by building up layers of wax. If you're not familiar with encaustic paints, you can read a little about them here. I'm planning to do a post about my process, but I want to get into the swing of things a little bit first.
I'm also learning to use watercolors. I'm not really ready to share any of them yet, but I'll get there!
Once I finish a painting, I'll do a short blog post about it with a photo and I'll go over the colors, materials, etc. And I'll add it to my store (shipping in the US is always free).
I also weave, embroider, and draw embroidery patterns. Check out that work over here!
Come along on my journey back into painting every day!
